PUBLIC ART SCULPTURE INSTALLATION
Collaboration with a Melbourne artist to fabricate a large-scale public art sculpture.
The Challenge
A renowned Melbourne artist commissioned us to fabricate their design for a public art installation. The 4-metre sculpture featured complex curved surfaces, internal lighting provisions, and needed to withstand outdoor conditions while developing a controlled weathering steel patina.
Our Solution
Our team worked closely with the artist throughout the fabrication process. Large curved panels were plasma-cut and rolled to form, with welded construction providing structural integrity. Internal LED lighting mounts were incorporated, with water drainage considered in the design. The weathering steel was pre-treated to accelerate initial patina development.
